- 1). Wipe the surface of the wood down with a good white spirit to degrease the surface.
- 2). Sand the surface of the wood using an 80 grit piece of sandpaper to remove most of the varnish already on the wood.
- 3). Sand using finer grit sandpaper until you reach 220 grit sandpaper and the surface is free of any varnish.
- 4). Wipe the surface down with a clean rag to remove any dust.
