Physical exercise is one of the most important parts of your child's upbringing, which is why many schools have recently begun assigning more importance to coordinated school health programs. Receiving good physical instruction in grades K-12 will help to ensure that students maintain healthy exercise and healthy living habits throughout the rest of their adult lives. If you're a physical education instructor, you know how crucial it is to have good resources and funding in order to implement a quality PE program that will benefit students. Luckily there are a lot of physical education resources to be found online. PE CentralPECentral.org has a ton of great information and resource links. Some of what you'll find there includes lesson plan ideas and lesson plan management articles that cover grades K-12. Resources on plan integration, field day activities and best practices can also be found in the site's "Lessons" section. There are also PE job listings, articles on becoming a PE instructor and professional opportunities for physical education instructors. There are also instructional DVDs and physical education materials for sale. National Association for Sport and Physical EducationThe website of the National Association for Sport and Physical Education (NASPE) is one of the best and most essential physical education resources online. Here you'll find information on national and state standards for physical education, along with comprehensive information on federal physical education grants, such as the PEP grant, and other ways that you can seek funding and support for physical education programs in your school. You'll also find information on professional development workshops, physical education conferences and continuing education opportunities. There are also career links and information on physical education journals, newsletters, books and other publications. Discovery EducationThe Discovery Channel's branch that's devoted solely to the field of professional education, Discovery Education offers teachers of all subjects, including PE, a wide range of useful resources. Physical education resources include hundreds of lesson plans and games that you can use, as well as chaptered videos and curriculum programs on topics that range from anatomy and nutrition, to drug awareness and safety. Discovery also provides professional training programs, both live and online. There are many physical education resources that are quite pricey, so it can be difficult to improve your program, or merely get it off the ground without a little help. Luckily there are ways to raise money for your school or community's physical education program. One of the most successful and helpful options is a Carol M. White Physical Education Grant, more commonly called a PEP grant. PEP grants can award anywhere from 100,000 to 500,000 dollars to your educational agency's or community's physical education program. If you need to begin, improve, or revamp your PE program with new resources, you should look into your PEP grant eligibility.
