How to Remove Mold From Cotton Linen
- 1). Take the cotton linens outside. Use a damp cloth to brush off surface mold. Make sure the wind does not blow the mold back onto you.
- 2). Lay the cotton linens flat with the mold stain facing up. Saturate a cloth in white vinegar. Blot the mold with the cloth until the stain is thoroughly saturated. Take the linens into your laundry room.
- 3). Set your washing machine to the hottest setting recommended for the cotton linens.
- 4). Add the appropriate amount of laundry detergent and 1 cup of white vinegar into either the water or the detergent compartment, depending on your machine. Put the cotton linens into the washer drum and shut the lid or door.
- 5). Allow the washing machine to complete a full cycle. Remove the cotton linens and examine them for mold stains. If a mold stain is present, soak the cotton linens in a bucket or the washer bin in equal parts oxygen bleach and hot water for 30 minutes. Launder the linens as you normally would.
- 6). Hang the cotton linens in sunlight to air-dry.
