After 20 Years, Detroit"s Lord G Is Still Making Hits!
Rapper and producer Lord G is a legend and icon to many in both Detroit and Los Angeles hip hop underground communities. The Detroit native was first heard under the name Eagle G, as a member of D.O.P. (Detroit's Original Posse) one of the earliest rap groups to emerge on the Detroit hip hop scene in 1989. After signing with the now defunct recording label Scorcher Records, the group which also included Darren D and DjD, released it's first singles entitled "Let The Record Play", "I Ain't Buying It", and "Keep On Movin'" which featured the smooth melodic beats of Soul2Soul. After having contract disputes with their record label, the group changed their name and became "Lords Of Logic" and Eagle G became Lord G. The "Lord's" joined forces with other local artists, Mc Doggin' D, Dj Tink, and Mr Mill, to create the triumphant finale style party song "Feel Al'right" which featured 7 of Detroit's hottest MC's. The collaborative effort seemed to be paying off, when the group was invited to perform with Eric B and Rakim, but the group's success was short lived and soon it was disbanded due to internal conflicts. With Detroit's hip hop scene looking like a dead end for aspiring rappers, Lord G made his way out west and was soon discovered by Dr. Dre, who brought him into the Death Row camp to make beats and ghost write. Lord G got a major buzz from his contribution to the Above The Rim soundtrack with "My Money Right," and was soon asked to the join the group Militia, who scored a hit with the bangin' track "Burn". Lord G was brought in and featured on the remixed version which also included the Phat Pak's Mr Tan and Ms Toi. Due to the success of the first CD, the group released a second CD entitled Militia All-Stars "Coming At Cha" (the songs were featured in Method Man's Documentary "The Strip Game"). Not being one to sit still over the years, Lord G has released a solo album, "Hot Ta Def on the Mic Chord", produced music for the movies "Road Dawgs" and "Blank Check", been featured on a slew of compilations including Millstreet Entertainment's "TakeOver2011" and the upcoming "Get Down or Lay Down", all the while eating up the mixtape circuit with his ferocious rhymes and venomous lyrics. With 20 years in the game Lord G is a proven and tested MC with the lyrical ability to redefine todays hip hop. For more info go to http://www.LordG.info
