- 1). Empty standing water from saucer or flowerpot. Rinse thoroughly. Repeat as needed, not allowing water to stand for more than three days.
- 2). Treat standing water with mineral oil. This creates a film on the surface that suffocates mosquito larvae.
- 3). Sprinkle Bti, found at garden supply centers, into the standing water. This natural bacterium is toxic to mosquito larvae but will not harm the environment.
