• Breyer State University offers a course in transcultural nursing as part of its Bachelor of Science in nursing degree. The course covers the history of transcultural nursing, issues related to human care,
  
  cultural beliefs, common beliefs, consultation, research, theory and practices in different cultures. The purpose of identifying differences in cultures in these course is not to categorize or create generalizations about people; rather, the goal is to become attentive to patients' cultural backgrounds, develop the ability to recognize a culturally sensitive situation and proceed tactfully when providing care.
  
  

Transculture Nursing Institute

• The Transculture Nursing Institute focuses on promoting culturally competent care that supports diverse values and beliefs found in individuals and communities. The focus of the program includes developing cultural competence and leadership, effective communication skills, cultural research methods, strategies that are congruent to cultural differences, providing care and management. The faculty is composed of authors, theorists and doctors in transcultural nursing. The courses are offered during fall and spring semesters, on-campus and through off-campus presentations.
  
  

Indiana Wesleyan University

• The School of Nursing at Indiana Wesleyan University offers a course in transcultural nursing as part of a four-year bachelor's of science degree in nursing. It provide practicing nurses with knowledge and hands-on experience on the subject. The programs is divided into two parts: transcultural nursing and practicum. The first part covers ethical values and social-cultural aspects of people and presents practices to manage stressful conditions in difficult environments. The second part consists of being integrated in the field where the theory is put to practice. Students work in clinics and health care facilities within inner-city districts in the United States.
  
  

Online Courses

• The majority of cross-cultural courses available are part of a four-year nursing degree or specialization. However, there are related courses that cover a broad scope and specific areas within this field. These are short one-hour courses, found under Nursing Spectrum (see References) and the topics include: cultural competence for today's health care, cultural perspectives in childbearing, foreign-educated nurses, patients who refuse blood, the uncommon handshake, awareness enhances care for Muslim patients and Chinese-American patients.
