The first reason is growing population.

Therefore many of them cannot find job and can be moved to the "jobless" category.
Moreover, I think that the number of jobs decrease every year because more and more companies move their factories to East Asian countries where workforce is cheaper than in the US.
Another reason of unemployment is replacing people by machines.
Scientists call such kind unemployment as technological.
I think that you have mentioned that more and more companies try to replace employees by machines in order to make production cheaper.
Also, there is another type of unemployment that is called seasonal.
Final reason is minimum wage.
Some people do not work because they know that not all companies can pay them the same salary.
Therefore, they prefer do not work at all.
One of my friends does not want to work at all because he is very lazy.
He knows that his parents are very rich.
As a result, after graduation he has not work for five years.
In conclusion, there are a lot of reasons of high rate of unemployed people such as season, new technology and others.
