Avoiding the Travelers Nightmare - Jet Lag

Every traveler who has flown through multiple time zones have had the unfortunate experience that come with the trips called jet lag.
While it takes less than a minute to adjust your wristwatch to a completely different time, the body clock takes much more time.
It is used to a rhythm of life that takes place in a 24 hour span, and all of a sudden, it gets confused.
And thus, after crossing several time zones, your body stubbornly wants to sleep when you want it to have lunch, and then to wake up at odd hours of the night when you want it to sleep.
There are many travelers who set aside their first day as a total waste all thanks to jet lag.
While you cannot avoid jet lag, you can minimize their symptoms by being well prepared with these traveler tips.
1.
Rest before travel.
You are aware that travel is very strenuous, even if you are riding in a commercial airplane and most especially if you're travelling half way around the world.
If you leave home still hung over after your bon-voyage party the night before, you can expect the more than usually painful headache.
Schedule your party earlier if you must.
You could set up a 24 hour rule before your flight; making sure you get plenty of rest and drink plenty of water.
You'll find the benefits worth it once you land at your destination.
You will be mentally comfortable once you bored the plane, and will be very well-rested during the flight.

Drink plenty, Eat light.
Travel is dehydrating.
While on board, try to ask for as much fluids as possible.
Take note, fluids do not involve alcohol.
While you think it will help you rest, alcohol will only stress your body, dehydrate it more, and worsen jet lag.

Flex and don't cross your legs.
It's very difficult to find a position that will keep you comfortable for hours, so crossing your legs may be very tempting.
However, try flexing your ankles instead of crossing legs.
You will be less prone to blood clots on your legs.
If you feel uneasy, try walking around or keep your attention busy with a movie and a few hours of sleep.

Mind over body.
No matter how unavoidable jet lag is, remember that your mind is still as powerful as it was when you were back home.
Don't just reset your watch; reset your mind to your destination's time as well.

Start adjusting to your destinations time zone when you are in the air.
If you're body feels a bit sleepy, try not to doze off until it's your usual bedtime at your destination.
Instead, keep yourself busy and sleep only when it's really time for bed.
