The house republican's budget proposal if passed into law will leave more seniors out in the cold with more out of pocket cost for health care then ever before.
Medicaid as we know it will end, if the GOP has its way with this program.
The Kaiser Family Foundation and the Urban Institute did a study of the GOP Proposal and concluded; Medicaid's role as the nation's health care safety net would be seriously compromised with no other alternative program in sight to take its place.
If the republican budget proposal passes and becomes law, Medicaid would be a skeleton of what the program is today.
People are upset and a bit angry over Medicare and the voucher program the republicans are proposing.
The GOP is not mentioning Medicaid because of the backlash and rejection they received in their home districts by the voters over Medicare.
Do you think they want another fight similar to that for Medicaid? I don't think so! Everyone deserves to be healthy and health care should be a right and not a privilege.
If for some reason a U.
S.
Citizen can not afford to pay for health care Medicaid can help.
Medicaid is a federal / state partnership program that covers more than 60 million poor to low income children, seniors and parents.
This includes nursing home residents as well as disabled people of all ages.
If Medicaid ends as we know it today this will lower the standard of living for many people.
The GOP proposal will change the Medicaid Program from an open ended program where the federal government pays for 60% of services rendered, to a block grant of a fixed amount going to each state.
Republican governors claim they can save billions of dollars with the revamped Medicaid program.
Democratic governors claim the savings will be on the backs of the poorest and most vulnerable citizens.
Right now with today's laws Medicaid is expected to cover 76 million people through 2021.
The study brings to concern the 31 to 44 million people who would lose their health coverage due to the revamp of Medicaid and the repeal of President Obamas Health Care Law.
Hospitals, community health care clinics and health care providers who cater to the poor and low income will be disproportionately affected.
Hospitals will see a Medicaid funding cut of 84 billion dollars by 2021.
At the same time more and more uninsured people will be using the emergency room as a primary care clinic.
How much money will we really save?
