LED Light Therapy for Younger Skin
- The theory behind LED therapy is that fine lines and wrinkles are formed due to lack of collagen and elastin. Collagen helps to "pump" up the skin, while elastin helps make it firmer.
- It is a non-invasive technique that you can have done in a salon, or use safely at home. The light does heat up after a while, so you may find your skin becomes slightly red from the heat. This calms down after a few minutes depending on your skin type. No adverse reactions have been reported.
- LED light is used by dermatologists and beauty salons. Manufacturers claim research is backed by NASA, who first discovered light therapy while experimenting with growing plants in space. While professional LED machines do appear to have some effect, The Consumer Watchdog found several of the hand-held, home-use devices to be ineffective.
