5 Tips to Consider If You Get Stuck Erasing Debt

103 22
It is going to happen at some point when you are paying off debt.
You are going to reach a point where you will question continuing on.
Or the thrill of paying down debt will diminish and just not seem exciting any more.
So what can you do? Here are 5 Tips to Consider If You Get Stuck Erasing Debt.
1.
Plan Ahead
Plan ahead by focusing on your budget and your list of debts you are trying to eliminate.
Picture the feeling you will have when you can erase more of those debts off of your list.
Imagine how good it will feel when you get to that point where you are no longer budgeting to pay off debt, but now budgeting to save money and to pay cash for the things you want.
2.
Add Traction
Add traction to your erase debt plan by re-evaluating your budgeted dollar amounts and trying to figure out places where you can add more money to paying off debt so that you accelerate and get out of debt faster.
That burst of payment acceleration will give you a mental stimulus that you can do this faster and get out of debt faster.
Part of the "boredom" of getting out of debt is that you sometimes can't see the finish line from where you are at.
Shaking things up by accelerating the payoff re-energizes you and helps get the finish line in sight.
3.
Read Books
Start reading books about getting out of debt.
Go to your local library and start checking out books about erasing debt or budgeting or living cheaply.
Reading up on the ideas of other authors will start to give you more ideas for your debt repayment plan.
There's not just one way to get out of debt.
Part of getting out of debt and staying out is finding your own path to get there.
4.
Listen to the Experts
In addition to reading the words of the experts start listening to them too.
Listen to Dave Ramsey on the radio or watch Suze Orman's Show on TV.
Again, like reading books, hearing what others are going through will help rejuvenate you.
Sometimes just hearing how badly in debt some folks that call into these shows are makes you think, "hey, I'm not that bad off!" You can even borrow the audio CD's of many of the experts books at your library and listen to them at home.
5.
Reevaluate Your "Why"
Sit down and think again about why you desired in the first place to get out of debt.
Were you scared of how deep in debt you were? Are you doing it for your family so that they can have a better life? Or so that you can leave them something after you are gone other than bills? It's about imagining the future outcome and setting up the desire to get there.
Only you know what will drive you to continue on.
Find what drives you and recommit your debt snowball with that knowledge.
So continue to erase debt and build wealth.
But if you start to stall or stumble use these five steps to refocus your efforts.
