What are the new iOS4 features for the iPad?
New features for iOS4 include Apple's version of multitasking for its mobile devices, the ability to organize apps into folders via drag-and-drop, and a more unified mail system.
At its Fall 2010 preview, Apple also touted music and video streaming features for the iPad via AirPlay. Folks with the new Apple TV, for example, will be able to use their iPad to stream video directly to their TV.
So what's next for iOS4 and iPad?
Apple released the iOS 4.3 beta to developers in January 2011. Features include enhancements to AirPlay such as streaming content from an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch to an HDTV via Apple TV. It also allows streaming of video from the Photos app.
Another new feature is the ability to play one's iTunes library anywhere at home via a Wi-Fi connection.
That includes streaming music from iTunes in a PC or Mac to an iPad without the need to download or sync. This feature works for iPhones and the iPod touch as well.
The iPad Side Switch can be customized into either a screen orientation or mute button in iOS 4.3. Safari should also get a speed boost. Although the iPhone gets the ability to act as a wireless hotspot with iOS 4.3, Apple didn't say anything about the iPad 3G having the same capability.

So when will iOS 4.3 be released? Apple actually timed the release for iOS 4.3 with the iPad 2's March 11 launch. That also means every new iPad 2 is launching with iOS 4.3 installed.
