Everyone Always Seems Better Than I Am - Why?

101 12
I've thought and thought right the way back to my early childhood as to why this would be.

I had a relatively happy childhood; certainly I wasn't abused in any way at all. There's only one subject at which I could claim superiority and that was English. Maths was passable, too, but when you'd said that, you'd said the lot! There's a boy in our class, well, because of his vastly superior abilities in mathematics, he's been moved into the sixth form. Apart from that, he's as clueless as the rest of us.

But when it comes to maths, he has to be moved up to the sixth, and even there, so we've heard, he's right at the top. Obviously, now, there's no way I can be this lad's equal. To expect to be so would be ridiculous. But then I know for a fact that I'm better at English than he is. My term marks are better than his, as are my end of term marks. It doesn't end there, either.

There are a number of other people to whom I'm superior, but am I able to cram this into my head? No way. Not the slightest chance. I never feel as good or as capable as anyone else. And yet I know I am. I'm not good looking, but this doesn't worry me. My athletic abilities are questionable, but this, too, doesn't concern me. The stupid part isn't that I'm not on a par with these others from a practical point of view. It's simply that I just can't seem to drill it home into my mind. It's a feeling of; 'Well, yes I'm as good, but I simply can't understand it.'

To think that we're as good as each other at everything is quite ridiculous, that's obvious. My own inferiority feeling is of the worst. As I've pointed out, there are certain subjects at which I'm superior to some people, but for some reason I feel worse. Eventually, I managed to rid myself of these stupid feelings, and here are one or two ways of, hopefully, helping you yourself.

One way of looking at this problem is to say to yourself;

'Right. To whom do I feel inferior?'

There's a good chance that a number of people will whiz through your head, but then you must ask yourself;'why?' Yes, this chap may be able to run a mile at an amazing time, but when it comes to the high jump, which is your particular area of expertise, he's hardly capable of taking off.

Ah, you say to yourself, but what about Piers. Now there's no way I'm as good as he is. He has staggeringly good looks, he's head of the sixth form, captain of school -- and only a year older that I am.

Now even that argument doesn't work. He can't be all things to all men, and besides which you can bet the bank he has his own demons.

Now, you have your own problems, by thinking about your inferiority complex, but someone else may not have such a condition, but I'm sure he has another problem with which to contend.

It's so important to build up your self-confidence. Remember, that no-one's better than you in every way. We all excel, one from the other, in our own way. An excellent idea is to visit Mike Bond's website, The Hypnosis Attraction, and see just how much there is there to learn and read.
