How to Find Florida Divorce Records
- 1). Gather information about the divorce. You'll need the full names of the spouses, the date of the divorce and the county where the divorce was granted.
- 2). Write a request for the information. Include the required information about the marriage and your name, contact information and telephone number where you can be reached during business hours. Send your request letter to the Bureau of Vital Statistics (see Resources).
- 3). Include the proper fee. As of Novemeber 2010, requests for divorce records in Florida cost $5 for a single certificate and $4 for each copy. If you are unsure of the year the divorce took place, you can search multiple years but must include an additional $2 fee for each additional year searched.
- 4). Indicate your delivery preference. Standard service typically takes between two and three weeks. If you want faster record returns, write "Rush" on the letter and outside of the envelope, and include an additional $10 fee.
- 5). Contact the clerk of the court. For divorce records from before June 6, 1927, you must contact the clerk of the civil court in the county courthouse where the divorce was granted. Talk to the clerk and ask what you need to provide to search these records as these vary depending on the county.
