Overview:

Rebecca Herbst is one of the most beautiful women in soap opera today, and, with her dramatic range, one of the most talented actresses.

She burst onto the General Hospital scene in 1997 as teenager Elizabeth Webber, a member of one of the first families of Port Charles. Herbst originated the role in August of 1997. She won an Outstanding Younger Lead Actress Emmy for her performance in 1999.

Rebecca Ann Liberty Herbst (Herbst means autumn in German) was born on May 12, 1977 in Encino, California. She has an older sister, Jennifer.

We've all heard of stage mothers. In this case, it was Herbst as a child who decided she wanted to do commercials in order to play with all the toys. Thus, her career began in national commercials, and she appeared in over 60.

Herbst was also in training to become a professional figure skater. Due to the rigors of both careers, at a certain point, she had to choose. Acting won. She still skates as a hobby.

Television Career

Once she moved onto television, she guest-starred on many shows, including  L.A. Law, Highway to Heaven, Beverly Hills 90210, Step by Step, and Days of Our Lives. 

TV movies include Why Me?, Kaleidoscope, and Donor Unknown. Her striking resemblance to actress Barbie Benton made her a shoo-in for the TV film Hefner: Unauthorized in 1999.

She costarred on a cable series, Space Cases during the 1996-1997 season, and appeared as a semi-regular on the series Brotherly Love in 1997.

Personal Life

Before meeting her husband, Herbst was engaged to photographer's assistant Johnny Lindesmith.   No one is certain whether she met Michael Saucedo, who played Juan on GH, before or after the engagement was broken. She and Saucedo married in Hawaii in June of 2001.

Always excited about the prospect of becoming a mother, Herbst gave birth to their first child, Ethan, on October 31, 2001, followed by daughter, Ella Bailey, born April 12, 2004, and a second son, Emerson Truett, born in August 9, 2010.

The family lives in the Los Angeles, California area with many pets, but probably cats are not among them, since Herbst is allergic.
