How to Remove Pet Urine Smell With Natural Remedies
- 1). Blot fresh urine stains with a handful of paper towels. This will absorb much of the urine before it sets into the surface.
- 2). Saturate the area with one part water and one part white vinegar. The vinegar will break up the enzymes in the urine that cause the odor. Blot with paper towels.
- 3). Sprinkle a thick layer of baking soda over the damp surface. The baking soda is a natural absorbant, as well as odor eliminator that will collect any urine plus remove the odor. Let sit for 20 minutes.
- 4). Pour 1/4 cup hydrogen peroxide over the baking soda. A foaming reaction will occur which is normal. This will break up any remaining urine and will also disinfect the area, killing any remaining odor-causing bacteria.
- 5). Blot the area with damp paper towels to absorb the cleaning mixture.
