A group from a samba school drum section (bateria) will perform during New Year's Eve on Sugarloaf Mountain, Rio de Janeiro. It's what Brazilians call grito de Carnaval, ("Carnival shout"), a pre-Carnival party that's a highlight of many New Year's celebrations throughout the country.

In 2009, a group of Mangueira drum section players brought a lot of samba to Sugarloaf Mountain.
