How to Change the Oil in a Husqvarna

104 17
    • 1). Check the engine oil before starting the Husqvarna and daily while using it. Place the tractor or other machinery on a level surface and turn it off. Allow the oil to drain into the crankcase for a minute and remove the dipstick. Check that the oil is above the "Fill" or similar mark.

    • 2). Add oil to the crankcase by filling through the dipstick tube if you changed the oil within 50 hours of operation and the dipstick indicates you need to add oil. Choose multi-viscocity oil like 5W30, or 10W30 for cold weather use. However, be aware that if you use those oils over 32 degrees Fahrenheit, you'll need to add oil more frequently.

    • 3). Change the oil if the dipstick indicates oil needs adding and you haven't changed the oil for 50 hours of operation or more. Drain the oil into a container by removing the fitting from the bottom of the drain valve and adding the drain tube. Husqvarna often coats these fittings in a yellow material, so they are easy to spot. Unlock the drain valve by pushing it in and turning it. Then pull out the valve and allow the oil to drain into the container.

    • 4). Close and lock the drain valve, then remove the tube. Re-cap the valve and add oil to the crankcase by filling through the dipstick tube. Check levels with the dipstick and fill until the oil level reaches "Full."
