- 1). Shuffle a deck of cards and place the jokers to one side. The jokers do not get used in Solitaire.
- 2). Lay out the cards to start the game. The player will lay out six rows face down, and the seventh card will be face up. Continue by placing five cards face down and the sixth card face up, skipping the seventh card. Then place four cards face down and the fifth card face up, skipping the sixth and seventh card. Continue this until all seven spots have cards face up.
- 3). Attempt to find cards that you can move from one row to another. Do this by putting a red-suited card on top of a black card or vice versa. For instance, a black queen will go on a red king while a red queen would go on a black king. Alternate the cards going down the line: black king, red queen, black jack, red 10, black 9, red 8 and so on. Or you can place the cards red king, black queen and so on.
- 4). Put the cards in your hand face down. Count three cards, then flip the third card over. Do not look at the card before you turn it over. Look at the cards on the table to see if you can place the card from the deck down on the table. For example, if you have a black 8 in your hand, look for a red 9 to put the 8 on, or check the four piles on the aces and see if your black 8 can go on the pile that has the same suit. If not, you will flip three more cards. Keep doing this until you reach the end of the deck, and then flip the cards back over in your hand and start again.
- 5). Place each ace that you find over the Solitaire layout. Once these four aces are laid across the board, you will build up on each card. A spade ace gets followed by a spade two, a spade three and so on. A heart ace will be followed by a two of hearts, three of hearts and so on.
- 6). Continue the game until you have used all the cards that you can use. You win the game when all the suits are properly matched from ace to king. If you have cards left over in your hand that you can't place anywhere, then you did not win the card game.
