Donny Osmond A Hit On "Dancing With the Stars!"

Dancing With the Stars the popular television show that's been on the ABC network has been drawing in viewers by the drove who want to see their favorite stars in entertainment, sports, and now politics dance up a storm. The new season just started last week and already it's been a ratings bonanza. Part of the reason is the entry of Donny Osmond a legendary teen idol and prolific entertainer who's trying to best his sister Marie Osmond who placed third on the show last year. I do not believe that it will be a problem for someone as talented as Donny.

As those of you know who keep up with my articles I did an article a while back on Donny comparing him and Michael Jackson. Being a long time fan of both I queried somewhat why Donny didn't become the big star Michael Jackson did and though I offered up some reasons still it's just hard to say. There is no reason I believe why he couldn't have but in show business it's hard to tell sometimes. Then too shaking the tag of being a teen idol has been difficult for many young stars who started off on top of the game but ended up near the bottom. The list is numerous of those who couldn't make the transition from teen idol to adult star, people like: Gary Coleman, Dana Plato, Adam Rich, Corey Feldman, Corey Haim, Leif Garret, Jaleel White, Tevin Campbell, Joey DeFranco, Willie Aames, Ernie Reyes, Jr., Tempest Bledsoe, all of the Cowsills, and many others. The ironic part though is that Donny though he didn't go on to major success, really isn't on the list with these I've named. He's been working for years, starred in several stage productions, still tours, and draws respectable numbers to his shows. He did that all through his down periods and though hasn't graduated to superstar status in his adult career he still has dragged some hits out of this trying time and may yet have even more hits as he makes a good showing for himself on this seasons DWTS!

When I heard that Donny would be on the show I was like 'uh-oh' because dancing isn't something foreign to Donny. I remember as a kid when I used to watch the Donny and Marie Show how they would generally start the show off with a song and dance routine. The were pretty good at it too but ALL the Osmonds used to dance on their stage shows. It was always entertaining and they were all pretty good at it too. I miss the old Osmonds stage show but I can understand a lot of work went into it they may have wanted to slow down some. I just hate they went country. But they come from a time when most showbiz acts did a little dancing and singing so it was in keeping with a long worn tradition especially with the sort of music they sang. So with that in mind though this is a different sort of dancing I still expect Donny to do quite well with it as he did last week. If he doesn't win it this year I do expect he will have a high placement for he was quite good especially with the latin dancing last week. So he's on his way.

With the conclusion of this years show I expect that Donny will have a significant career resurgence and interest in his music will grow. Already he and his sister Marie have sold out their Vegas performance dates. Hopefully he will put out some new music and make another stab at the charts again for I believe he will have some more hits. He's not through making hits yet but he does need to put the music out there and let the people decide what they like just as Brooke Hogan did. Her CD 'Undiscovered' went platinum without a major record deal behind her and so I believe he can do it too. Good luck Donny.
