Owning horses can be a challenge. Sometimes, a horse can become ill and might need special treatment, or an owner gets into a hard spot and the horses need to be placed in another home, quickly. In some of these cases, donation of horses to a university for research might be an option. Choosing a reputable university is critical for the responsible horse owner. - The Department of Animal Science at Texas A&M University is one of the premiere horse research and medical centers in the United States. Located in College Station, Texas, this facility does a wide variety of research in everything from health issues to performance factors. Horses accepted for donation are well cared for in the best of facilities. Horses must meet certain criteria, so contacting the university is required before donation.
