Perthshire is synonymous with beautiful scenery, rolling hills that become more dramatic as they reach the foot of the Cairngorm National Park and big trees that cover the lush landscape and change from vibrant green to fiery red depending on the season.
This is a beautiful part of the world and ideally located for visitors travelling to scotland, given that it is the geographic heart of the nation.
Easily reached by public transport from the busier central belt areas around Edinburgh and Glasgow, travellers can get away from it all in the tranquil setting of Perthshire.
However it is not just incredible rugged and wild scenery that visitors to Perthshire will witness.
Delve in to the villages and towns dotted around the area and you will find some remarkable gardens that have been carefully attended to over the years.
Many of these gardens are situated in castles or stately homes that are open for the public to enjoy.
During the summer months these gardens are displayed in all their glory and they certainly add a dimension to Perthshire that should be taken in during any visit.
Starting in the North end of the county, in the popular tourist town of Pitlochry at the heart of Highland Perthshire, garden aficionados will enjoy taking in the town itself, which has numerous Britain in Bloom Awards.
The famous Pitlochry Festival Theatre is adjacent to the beautiful Pitlochry's Explorers Garden which contains a number of interesting plants from all corners of the globe in a tribute to the world exploring botanists such as David Douglas.
Just North of Pitlochry the village of Blair Atholl surrounds the magnificent Blair Castle - within the grounds here you will find the fantastic nine-acre Hercules walled garden as well as Diana's Grove.
Just South of Pitlochry Cluny House Gardens is well worth a visit - an astonishingly wide range of flora and fauna is on display here.
Head further South and you can tour Drummond Castle Gardens, just outside Crieff.
Again, these gardens live up to the splendid nature of the building in which it surrounds.
The history here is tangible with the gardens remaining largely as they were first intended to look like in 1830.
There is even a 17th Century sundial on show.
The gardens at Kilbryde Castle near Dunblane are also magnificent - they encompass three areas to suit the tastes of all styles of garden connoisseurs - formal, woodland and wild.
Perthshire is well worth a visit for many reasons, but make sure you get a taste of the beautiful garden trail.
