    • 1). Launch Firefox. From the menu bar, click on the "Tools" menu, and scroll down to the "Clear Recent History" option and click it. A dialog box will appear in the middle of the screen with the heading "Clear Recent History." The menu bar is at the top right corner of the browser's interface; the first item in the bar is "File" and the last one is "Help." The "Tools" menu is the second-to-last one.

    • 2). Select which items to erase. From the "Clear Recent History" dialog box, put a check mark in the box adjacent to the text "Form & Search History." Click on the box to check it. Do not click if the box already has a check mark. This option will erase all search items typed in the Search Bar, and all information from the browser's Form Autocomplete feature.

    • 3). Remove check marks for the items you do not want to clear history for. In the "Clear Recent History" dialog box, other items included with "Form & Search History" are "Browsing & Download History," "Cookies," "Cache," and "Active Logins." If any of these other items are checked, the browser will erase all history associated with each item. Specify which items' histories to retain by un-checking appropriate boxes.

    • 4). Select the time range. Firefox allows you to erase the browser's history based on usage period. You can select "Last Hour," "Last Two Hours," "Last Four Hours," "Today" and "Everything." The last option will remove all history. If you want to remove all entries from the Search Bar, scroll down to the option labeled "Everything" in the "Clear Recent History" dialog box, and click it. A warning message appears, notifying that you are about to clear all history, and that the action cannot be undone. Click "Clear Now." Wait for the program to erase all search items typed into the Search Bar.

    • 5). Close the program after the Search Bar history is cleared, and launch it again. Check whether all search items have been erased from its memory. Start typing in a term; if the Search Bar does not show any suggestions, its history has been erased.
