How to Set a Conibear Using a Rope
- 1). Fold a 6-foot length of 550 paracord in half.
- 2). Insert the folded end of the paracord through the top and bottom eye loops of the spring arms on one side of the trap.
- 3). Run the two free ends of the paracord over the outside of the eyes of the spring arms. Bring the two free ends of the paracord up and insert the free ends of the paracord between the folded ends of the paracord, forming a loop and encircling the spring arms inside the paracord.
- 4). Orient the trap against the ground so the point on the doubled end of the paracord is facing away from you. Place your foot against the inside of the closed jaw at the bottom of the trap.
- 5). Pull up on the paracord with your hands until the eyes of the spring arms are drawn together far enough to allow you to place the safety catch over the spring arms.
- 6). Remove the paracord from the spring arms of the set spring. Repeat the procedure on the spring arms of the opposite spring.
- 7). Open the jaws of the trap with your hands, keeping your fingers outside of the jaws. Push the trigger release over the jaws. Set the trap in place and release the safety catches on the spring arms. Do not move the trap after the safety catches have been disengaged.
