    • 1). Securing and training the wisteria to a wall or fence horizontally is most conducive of a generous bout of blooms. Be sure that its support system is a strong one; wisterias become very heavy with age.

    • 2). The wisteria thrives with at least 6 hours of full sun daily, and does best in a cool, moist soil with adequate drainage.

    • 3). Light fertilization in the fall also encourages an abundance of blooms. Do not overdo it; the wisteria prospers on a certain degree of neglect.

    • 4). Aggressive pruning is also a key element in a flourishing wisteria. Pruning the plant after each blooming session encourages the plant to bloom yet again, often with even more vigor; a stress reaction in which the plant attempts to reproduce itself due to the slight trauma of trimming.
