    Randy Wayne Ahuna Scholarship

    • Open to students in Hawaii wanting to study social work at the community college level, the Randy Wayne Ahuna Scholarship receives funding from the Ke Ali'i Pauahi Foundation in Honolulu. Preference goes to students from a Hawaiian island besides Oahu and students must be attending a college in the state. Eligibility requirements include a 3.0 minimum grade point average and ability to demonstrate financial need. Along with the application, available online through the Ke Ali'I Pauahi Foundation website, applicants should submit their college acceptance letter, official grade transcript, student aid report, two letters of recommendation and an essay describing why they are pursuing a degree in social work.

    Carl A. Scott Book Scholarships

    • Sponsored by the Council on Social Work Education, the Carl A. Scott Book Scholarships are open to any minority student working toward a social work degree at an accredited college or university. Two one-time $500 scholarships are awarded each year and must be used for books. Applicants must be in their final year of study, be a minority, have a 3.0 grade point average and be enrolled for at least 12 credit hours a semester. Applicants must also show a commitment to working toward social justice in their social work careers. Applications and more information about the scholarship can be found on the Council of Social Work Education website.

    National Association of Black Social Workers Scholarships

    • The National Association of Black Social Workers sponsors five different scholarships, including three tuition scholarships and two book scholarships. The three tuition scholarships together award up to four scholarships from $1,000 to $2,000 each year. The two different book scholarships provide $250 and go to five students each year. To be eligible, students must be of African descent, have a 2.5 grade point average and be enrolled full-time in a social work degree program. Additionally, applicants should have a history of community service and an interest in serving in the black community. Students can apply for all five scholarships using just one application, found on the NABSW website.

    Community Foundation of Greater Atlanta Scholarships

    • Social work students wanting to study at the community college level can also apply for two scholarships from the Community Foundation of Greater Atlanta. The Steve Dearduff Scholarship Fund awards three $2,500 scholarships to Georgia residents pursuing a social work degree and who have shown a commitment to community service. The foundation also awards one William Lucas Memorial Scholarship each year worth $1,250 to graduating high school seniors from Atlanta or Gainesville, Georgia, who will be studying social work. Interested candidates can apply for both scholarships through the foundation's website.
