How to Visit Greece Islands

    • 1). Obtain your passport before booking your trip. You cannot enter or exit Greece or the United States without a valid U.S. passport. The U.S. Department of State issues passports to citizens, and all citizens need a passport regardless of age. The issuance of your passport takes anywhere from two to eight weeks, depending on whether you chose to expedite the process. Make sure to apply in plenty of time so as not to disrupt your travel itinerary.

    • 2). Book your plane ticket. Many major airlines fly to Greece, some nonstop and some with layovers in other countries. Many of the Greek islands have airports of their own, as well. Book through any major airline or through a travel website. Travel websites allow you to compare prices, airlines and travel itineraries in just one search. Travel sites also allow you to book your Greek island trip as a package to include your rental car, accommodations and other activities. Expedia, Orbitz and Hotwire all allow this.

    • 3). Book a cruise. Many major cruise lines, such as Royal Caribbean and Celebrity Cruises, offer voyages from destinations in the United States and many other countries to the Greek islands. Cruising the Greek islands allows you to see a number of islands while saving the expense of booking rental cars and hotels on different islands. Your meals and entertainment are also included in your cruise price, which leaves extra funds with which to pick up Greek souvenirs or participate in other activities in the Greek islands.
