    • 1). Lift up the scanner bed located on the top portion of the Epson Stylus CX4800 and remove the tape holding the ink cartridge holder to the right side of the machine.

    • 2). Close the scanner bed. Plug the power cord into the rear of the printer and then into a wall outlet near your computer system. Press the "Power" button located on the far top-right section of the printer. This allows the printer's ink cartridge holder to slide in the proper position for adding the ink cartridges in the next step.

    • 3). Lift up the scanner bed again and shake the ink cartridges vigorously for about 10 seconds each (your Epson Stylus CX4800 comes with four ink cartridges). Remove the ink cartridges from their packaging and peel off any tape that may be covering the cartridge ink nozzles. Lift up the cartridge holder cover on the printer.

    • 4). Install each ink cartridge to the corresponding color-coded slot of the printer. The cartridge holder features retaining tabs on both sides for each ink cartridge, and you will hear a "snap" when the cartridges are correctly seated in the holder. Swing the cartridge holder cover down and lock it into place using the downward pressure of your fingers.

    • 5). Close the scanner bed and press the ink button to start the ink charging process (the ink button looks like a small water droplet). The ink charging process will produce noise and will last for approximately three minutes. Fully extend the upper feed tray and slide the paper guide to the proper position needed for your particular paper size.

    • 6). Fill the upper paper tray with no more than 100 sheets of paper, and readjust the guide tabs as necessary. Flip back the feeder guard located in front of the paper feed slot on top of the printer, towards the front. Extend the lower tray of the printer if you have not done so already.

    • 7). Turn on your computer but do not connect your printer to the system yet. After your operating system has fully loaded, insert the installation CD that came with your Epson Stylus CX4800. Click the "Install" button on the Epson menu that appears.

    • 8). Follow the installation prompts exactly and connect the USB cable from the printer to an open USB connection on your computer when the software directs you to. After the software has successfully installed, you may be asked to perform a print test. Perform the print test and print head alignment process as directed by the screen prompts to conclude the printer setup.
