Food Ideas for a Teenage Party
- Arrange to have pizza and chicken wings delivered or ready for pickup at a certain time during your teen's party. Depending on how many teens are attending, order enough pizzas with different toppings so there is enough of a variety. Order chicken wings in different flavors, at least a dozen to a dozen and a half of each flavor based on how many teens are attending. Supply different types of dipping sauces or dressings for the wings. If your teen knows that a certain friend likes or dislikes a certain type of pizza, order accordingly.
- Prepare and serve mini portions of foods at your teen's party. Mini foods such as burgers or sandwiches can be prepared on a grill or in the oven and served up during the party. Serving the food yourself will keep kids out of the kitchen and give you an opportunity to check in on the party. Long submarine sandwiches or grinders can be assembled or ordered from a deli and cut into small portions. Serve these sandwiches with condiments such as mustard, mayonnaise and pickles so teens can dress it up any way they want.
- Make and serve a variety of appetizer foods. Nachos served with cheese or a bean dip will allow teens to snack throughout the party. Make quesadillas, either spicy or plain with cheese, chicken or steak inside. Cut into triangle portions and serve along with salsa and sour cream. Serve premade potato skins or make them yourself and serve along with sour cream. Mozzarella sticks served with marinara sauce for dipping can be ordered from a restaurant or purchased in the freezer section of your local grocery store. Provide enough appetizers so each teen attending can have at least two servings of each food.
- If you plan on serving a meal at the teen's party, arrange it buffet style so teens can eat when they want. Offer foods such as lasagna, spaghetti, tacos or enchiladas along with the condiments and extras that can be assembled as the teens become hungry. If you plan to barbecue the party foods, grill enough hot dogs and hamburgers and leave them on a plate or in an aluminum tray on the food table next to bags of rolls and buns, along with ketchup, mustard and relish. As the teens eat, remove any empty plates or dishes from the table and restock items as they are needed.
