DIY How to Clean Aluminum

104 2
    • 1). Fill stained aluminum cookware with water and place it on a stove burner turned to the high setting.

    • 2). Add 2 tbsp. cream of tartar to 1 qt. water and bring the mixture to a boil. Reduce the heat and allow the mixture to simmer just below the boiling point for at least 10 minutes.

    • 3). Let the cream of tartar solution cool until it is warm to the touch.

    • 4). Put gloves on and place the cookware containing the mixture in an empty sink. Dip a scrubber-sponge into the pot and scrub the outside with the warm mixture of water and cream of tartar. Use back and forth strokes rather than circular stokes. The horizontal strokes are in line with the make-up of the metal and do not leave marks.

    • 5). Empty the mixture from the cookware and place it in a sink of soapy water and scrub it inside and out with a scrubber-sponge. Rinse in clear, running water and polish it dry with a clean soft dishtowel.
