Is Economic Recovery Working?

103 18
Although it seems like we are on the right track to economic recovery, the road back out of our recession will be a long one.
Many people, myself included, have lost their jobs of long-time standing, thanks to downsizing, or just plain lack of resources to continue, that particular business.
And, although the enacted Economic Stimulus Bill allows for extended unemployment benefits, that is still only a temporary, or quick, fix, for our record number of unemployed.
And, even if it DID seem that we were just getting our heads above the economic waters, the WORLD economic distresses, such as in Greece and Europe recently, suddenly impact us here in the U.
S.
, and the effects on our economy are felt in the sharp drop in the stock market.
But, there is hope for us, as our job market is, albeit slowly, starting to pick up, as THERE lies the key to any recovering economy.
So, in asking the big question, "Is our economic recovery working?", one must remember to look at the positive factors, instead of dwelling on the negative too much.
Although we can't ignore the negative, we can learn, and grow, from these experiences that our country, as well as ourselves, have been through these past few years.
One thing I've learned in building and re-establishing good credit (which is essential in today's economic growth), is to live well within my means..
..
There's a saying (this may be a variation of that): "If you merely WANT it, you don't really NEED it.
" Yet, if we can do without all of the luxuries, then certain retailers would also suffer, again hurting our economic recovery.
So, basically, we should simply just try to live within our MEANS, and if that affords some creature comforts and luxuries, so be it.
But, as long as we remember (myself especially included) WHAT got us to this point was overstepping our means, and misusing credit, running up huge debts- not only personally, but in business- and avoid that trap, economic recovery DOES, and will work.
