How do I Check My Credit Report From Outside the United States?
- 1). Order a copy of your credit report online. The Fair and Accurate Credit Transaction Act (FACTA) gives you the right to order a free copy of your report once a year from the three major credit bureaus: Experian, Equifax and TransUnion. Congress established a website for this purpose. See the link in the Resources section. You can also order the report directly from the bureau's website.
- 2). View your online report. You will have full access to the entire report, including the positive and negative account sections, personal information, recent inquiries and public records, if applicable. The credit bureau will allow you to create an account and will save the free report for 30 days. This way, you may log out then log back in at a later time to view your report again.
- 3). Print out a copy of your credit report if you would like to have a hard copy. It's a good idea to do so in case you lose access to the Internet. It's also wise to keep a copy around for quick reference in case you need it. Remember, you can only receive one free report per year.
