How to Clean Lacquer-Finished Wood
- 1). Dust your wood furniture frequently. Wood furniture attracts dust, which shows up easily on the lacquer finish.
- 2). Wipe in the direction of the wood's grain to prevent scratching. Tiny scratches can ruin your wood's finish when dusting against the wood grain.
- 3). Moisten a lint-free cloth and wipe the furniture to remove minor stains. According to Good Housekeeping, the cloth should be slightly damp rather than soaked, as excess moisture can distort the wood's finish.
- 4). Buff the wood dry with a dry cloth to remove leftover moisture; beads of water from the damp cloth leaves a streaky look.
- 5). Blow the dust from the wood's surface with a dusting spray. Hold the dusting spray at least 10 inches from the wood's surface while in use.
