How to Search for Available Wireless Internet Connections
- 1). Click the Start button and select "Connect to." This action produces a "Connect to a network" dialog box. The system automatically scans your area and will show a list of the available wireless networks.
- 2). Examine the networks on the list. Note that some networks are open for anyone to connect to and others are blocked from public access. Those that are blocked show a padlock over the wireless network icon.
- 3). Select a wireless network. You may click the "Connect" button to connect to the network or double-click on the network icon. If you select a public network, you will be connected immediately. If you choose a private network, you will receive a prompt for a password. Enter the password to connect. Once you are connected, you will have access to Internet service.
