What Are the Dangers of Hydraulic Fluid?
- Because hydraulic fluids are made up of chemicals and additives, they can be extremely irritating to the skin. Protect exposed skin from the liquid and immediately use soap and water to wash any areas that came into contact with the fluid.
- Hydraulic fluid can be very irritating to the eyes. Flush it out with water immediately.
- Inhaling the fumes from hydraulic fluid may cause weakness or even nerve damage. Be sure to use the fluids in an area with good ventilation.
- Accidently ingesting hydraulic fluid can cause severe damage. Internal bleeding and even death may result.
- Hydraulic fluid can be harmful to the environment. The chemicals in it contaminate whateverthey touch, be it water, soil or air.
