The Unicef Logo and Spiderman
Through the years the UNICEF Logo has been used as a reference to noble causes such as stopping world hunger and educating children in all of the world, but did you know it has also been associated with Spider Man? The UNICEF Logo and Spider Man were bonded together during the 1992 Xmas season.
In this Marvel Special Edition issue the UNICEF Logo appeared in the cover of the magazine, this edition was offered only for those who had made a 5 dollar donation to UNICEF. This spidey comic was entitled "Trial of Venom" but this wouldn´t be the first or the last time that UNICEF and Spider Man joined forces.
On october 30, 2002 Spider Man appeared at a Halloween party hosted by UNICEF. With this types of campaigns UNICEF provides much needed aids to millions of children around the world, as well as encourage children to "Be a Hero. Trick or Treat for UNICEF".
This event was also part of the premier screening of the DVD of Spider Man from Columbia TriStar Home Entertainment. Benjamin S. Feingold, President for this company commented "We´re excited to team up with an organization like UNICEFbecuase Spider Man is such an important icon who helps inspire people to 'be a hero' and help people, just like UNICEF".
In 1998, DC Comics printed a comic with UNICEF entitled "The Hidden Killer". This issue was created in conjuction with UNICEF for distribution in Central America to warn children about the dangers of landmines. It was printed in both spanish and english and though it´s main characters were Superman and Wonder Woman it was first conceived with Spider Man in mind.
