103 2
If you want to create a website from scratch, you need to have a plan in your mind or on paper that will enable you to create the website.
You need to be clear what your creation needs to achieve.
Whilst this might seem like the obvious, thing to do, we sometimes just leap in and start creating a website that has no real aim.
Scratch building websites needs planning, even if it is simply a small personal one.
The reason is even a personal web site has a reason, otherwise why do it at all? So logically, a little planning will go a long way and the time spent designing your website from nothing will be easier and faster if you have a plan! So where do you start? The best way is a bit of paper and state the reason for your website.
Paper is better as it enables you to understand better what you write rather than on screen.
If you start in the middle of the paper, you can then have links from your initial idea that will help you build the site.
The first thing is to ask yourself what the website you are going to create is to be used for? Is it to make money, to get people to look at your hobbies from say Facebook or Twitter? Is it a proper ecommerce site for your off line business? Consequently let's say that you want to make a money making website as a hobby.
That's not too serious a proposition but the principles apply to any website the only difference is that the more serious a business site may get more complex.
However if your online site is well planned out beforehand then even to create a website from scratch that is going to get big, will be easy as you have to build a foundation for anything that grows! Let's think about that for a second.
Whenever we need to find out something new, we learn about it and it takes some time.
We cannot for example go out onto the street and build a house unless we have learnt how.
We do not just hop into a formula one or Indy racing car and win our first race.
No, we have to learn first.
We have to learn all the constituent parts of building a house for example, such as its design, the authority planning requirements, the construction techniques and materials, the skills in building like brick laying carpentry, electrical circuits, plumbing, plastering (now that's fun!) and so on.
You probably have the picture now.
It is necessary to learn the information that will help you build your website.
And the foundation to a successful business if that is what you want.
So 1/ Decide what you want to achieve from your website (Subject, business or pleasure) 2/ Work out what you want to say and plan the initial number of pages (you can always add to a website in fact it is a good way to keep I it interesting for your viewers and Search Engines will love you for it!) One page will suffice to start, create a website and get it online, just one page makes it easy and fast.
3/ Get your content together.
4/ Decide upon the best website builder for your website.
One that helps you on the way and you can see what your viewer will see.
"WYSIWYG" (What You See Is What You Get) is the best type, it is far, far easier that way.
One that has a quick start tutorial so you can get online quickly.
5/ Choose a web host and you can usually try one out for no longer commitment than a month.
If you already have a broadband supplier which is likely as you are reading this, then chance are there is free web space for you.
However if it is a commercial or small business site you need it to be professional so a paid host is best and more reliable.
6/ Get on and create a website, then keep on adding to it.
If you have chosen the right website builder package then, you will find easy ways to do this.
