- 1). Restart your computer and press the "F8" function key during the rebooting process. A screen prompt will appear asking you to choose between "Windows Safe Mode With Networking" and "Windows Safe Mode Without Networking." Select the "With Networking" menu option and press the "Enter" key. Your computer will proceed with booting into Safe Mode and will remain in this mode until you restart the computer.
- 2). Press the "Ctrl," "Alt" and "Delete" keys simultaneously and click the "Start Task Manager" menu option. Click on the "Processes" tab. Click once on the "ieav.exe" process and click the "End Process" menu button. Exit the Task Manager by selecting the "X" in the upper-right corner of the window.
- 3). Click on your desktop's "Start" button, click "Run," type "command" in the search text field and press the "Enter" key to open a DOS command prompt. Open the Registry Editor by typing "regedit" and pressing the "Enter" key.
- 4). Enter each of the following registry key values in the "Search" option in the registry editor, click each entry and press the "Delete" key.
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\software\ieantivirus
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\microsoft\windows\currentversion\uninstall\ie antivirus
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\software\microsoft\windows\currentversion\run antispy - 5). Exit the Registry Editor by selecting the "X" button in the upper-right corner of the application window.
- 6). Enter the following command in the DOS prompt window:
CD c:\software\microsoft\windows\currentversion\uninstall\ie antivirus
Press the "Enter" key. - 7). Type "dir" to view the files in the directory created by the IE Antivirus spyware application. Unregister all files that end in ".dll" listed in the directory by entering the following command at the DOS prompt:
regsvr32 /u DLLfilename
Replace "DLLfilename" with the appropriate file name and press the "Enter" key for each DLL file. - 8). Delete the "ieav.exe," "ieas.db3" and "ieas.db2" files located in the same directory by entering the following command at the DOS prompt:
del filename
Replace "filename" with the appropriate name and press the "Enter" key for each file. - 9). Restart your computer normally and the IE Antivirus malware will be removed.
