- 1). Sprinkle baking soda over your carpet. Use a good amount to thoroughly cover the carpet.
- 2). Let it sit overnight. If possible, let it sit even longer to allow it time to absorb all the odors.
- 3). Use a broom to sweep the excess baking soda out of the carpet. Sweep it on to a nearby hard floor and dispose of it with a dustpan.
- 4). Vacuum the floor thoroughly to remove the rest of the baking soda. Be sure to empty the bag or canister if it gets to full to ensure you get all of the baking soda out of the carpet.
- 5). If any odor still remains, repeat the treatment in a few days.
