How to Play Runescape on a Slow Computer
- 1). Close any unnecessary programs. Additional programs running on your computer can tie up necessary system resources and slow down your Runescape game.
- 2). Stop auto-updater programs from running in the background. Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to access the Task Manager in Windows and use "End Process" to remove these. Mac users can use the Systat widget to view background processes. Auto-updating programs consume your bandwidth and slow your connection to the Runescape servers.
- 3). Launch the Runescape program from the website. This ensures that you have patched to the latest version of the game and are less likely to encounter bugs due to system issues.
- 4). Use the "Options" menu in the game to set graphics to "Low" settings. Disable shadows, particle effects and anti-aliasing, as these are a big strain on your graphics processor.
- 5). Avoid heavily populated areas during peak times. Some towns and starting areas become very congested during the early evening hours, and this will cause lag or crashes on a slow computer.
