Using a control or a motion sensor, to play a video game tournament is a great way to relax and have fun. The possibilities are endless, but consider sticking with one game. Use it as the theme for the evening. Whether you decide to Dance Dance, form a Rock Band or play a sport, create a customized bracket and let the competition begin. Give prizes to the top winners of the evening.

A little public humiliation works well to bring a group of friends closer together. Go bowling or miniature golfing, with a new rule. The twist on the game gives everyone, even the most challenged player, an opportunity to win and helps the players from taking the game too seriously. For example, spin in a circle five times before releasing the bowling ball down the lane, hopefully your lane. Or golf using only one hand to swing the club.

Whether it is candy making, quilting, or scrapbooking, inviting friends over to learn something new is a fun way to spend time together. If you have a special skill, share it. Otherwise, hire a teacher so you can all learn together. Remember to allow for plenty of hands-on time and ensure the project is small enough to finish and take home -- or consume.

Hosting a party that sells products puts a lot of pressure on your friends. Many will find a reason not to come. Let the girls know you will be providing the materials, and this is simply for fun, not business.
