Simple Guide To Aerial Videography Devices

105 6
Remote controlled helicopters attached with suitable cameras are just the right set of tools to get some fantastic aerial shots for your video. Your video could be part of a television show or a commercial or any other occasional programme. All of them stand to benefit in a number of ways by the uniquely designed helicams.

Freedom

The way we see it, helicams have one thing that conventional mounted cameras can never have. Freedom of 3 dimensional space. When you have a camera on the ground it can cover most of the things at the ground level and what surrounds it. Sure, the attached stand can provide some elevation changes but it is extremely limited.

With a helicam, you have complete freedom and you don't have to worry about elevation. The same controller which allows you to move the helicopter ahead and behind, also allows to increase or decrease the height. The freedom is just awesome. Imagine if you were riding an eagle with your favourite camera mounted on your head, capturing everything you are seeing at that moment. It is exactly like that, except that the eagle here is the tiny helicopter, and the camera has been designed to be operated just as it would react if it is in your hand.

Challenges

The above freedom of being able to capture footage in free form comes at a huge price, i.e. of the skill required to navigate the chopper as well as the camera mounted on it. Think of all the advantages that allow you to take videos while on the ground. The ground is stable and you mostly do not have to worry about the effects of wind and other weather elements.

The sky though is a different story. The taller you fly your helicam, the more it has to endure the weather elements. It may not stay where you want it to stay and your videos may become blurred or too shaky to be of any use. This is where your combination of skill and equipment comes into play. The skill part is up to you and the crew. The equipment part is up to the company that is providing it to you.

Companies which have years of experience in providing aerial video capture services will have the best equipment - camera and radio controlled helicopter - to help you with your video capture. You can get gas powered as well as electric powered helicopter models. Electric is suited for low wind conditions while gas powered perform well in windy conditions and are able to carry more weight.
