Will We Ever Elect a President Who Tells It Like It Is?

Indeed, I would submit to you that most Americans now believe that we need to cut spending on social services, specifically Medicare and Social Security.
We have no choice anymore, and we are digging a hole deeper each year we don't address these real issues.
The last administration did not address this issue, and neither has this administration.
Why you ask? Because they feel it is political suicide, and it doesn't matter which side of the aisle the politician is on, they all know that if they try to cut Social Security or Medicare, they will not be reelected.
Of course, we live in a nation that is a Republic, not a pure democracy.
We have a Republic so that people go to Washington DC and vote their minds.
However, rather than doing what's right for the country, it appears that they would rather save their own skins, live to fight another day, and move these politically challenging, albeit necessary budget cuts into a committee.
When the GOP primary election process started, there was some talk in the media that the GOP candidates probably wouldn't address Medicare or Social Security during their debates.
Apparently those political pundits and political media analysts were correct.
And let's not pick on the GOP, the Democrats aren't doing it either.
In fact, during the debt ceiling debate Nancy Peloci, Harry Reid, and the Democrats in the House and Senate all said that they would never cut Social Security or Medicare.
Rather they wanted to cut the military.
Interestingly enough, government's number one job is to protect the American people from enemies foreign and domestic.
We have a federal government so we can pool our resources to maintain a strong military.
We did not set up a federal government to provide social services, and create a socialist government where the proud American citizens were beholden to the government to provide for their every need in some sort of a nanny state.
Unfortunately that's what we have now created, and these runaway costs must be curtailed somehow.
Now then, it would be nice to see presidential candidates which would address this, but I doubt if we will ever elect a president who will tell us the truth.
Obviously, President Obama wants to get reelected, so he will not address this issue, nor will the GOP candidates.
No one should be surprised, but "kicking the can further down the road" will only prove that China is right, America has a; debt bomb problem.
And it's not that we need China to tell us this, we already know, and the last three Federal Reserve Chairmans have testified to Congress showing graphs and charts of just how serious it is.
It's too bad no one will listen, and the American citizens will not stand up and take some responsibility.
Perhaps the voters need to stop listening to podium pushing politicians who continually promise them things which are impossible - well one can only hope for that change.
Please consider all this and think on.
