Entrepreneurial Leadership in Network Marketing - Raising the Bar

Many regard Mother Teresa as a woman, who always had a heart for heroism; who was born a natural leader.
While it is true that she was an incredibly spiritual woman of extraordinary courage and commitment; Mother Teresa did not start out to help the impoverished.
For over twenty years, she taught children from prosperous families in Calcutta, India.
The wealthy neighborhood in which she worked bore no resemblance to the squalid slums which later became her arena of influence, compassion and servant leadership.
One night, as Mother Teresa walked down the street, she heard the moan and cry of a woman.
Rushing to her side, she immediately recognized the gravity of the woman's condition.
She took her to the hospital, where she was told to standby.
Frustrated at the long wait, she left that hospital and took the woman to another.
Another long wait ensued, for the woman's social position caused her to be put at the end of the line of importance when it came to treatment.
Exasperated, she took the lady home.
Several hours later, the woman died in the caring arms of Mother Teresa.
With steely determination, Mother Teresa made a decision that night that this would never again happen to anyone within her reach.
From that point forward, she courageously committed to devote her life to easing the pain of those in her sphere of influence who were suffering.
If they were at death's door, they would die with dignity and would receive all the love and respect they deserved as valuable human beings.
We who have committed ourselves to become Leaders in the arena of entrepreneurship are called to more than just "Positional Leadership.
" True leaders are not just leaders by appointment or position.
Nor is a man or woman a true leader simply because they can command a big salary.
A true leader is one who is committed to the success of the team.
A true leader does not abandon those in their charge, because of race, or place, or differences in ability to sell.
"You and I-and everyone we meet has the unborn capacity to be heroic; to take daring, courageous, and noble steps to make life better for others, even when in the short term it seems to be at our own expense.
" John Maxwell Let every person you lead know, that you will pay the price of leadership, bear burdens, meet hardships, and support their desire to rise above their current circumstances.
In this economy, many have experienced staggering losses.
Some have experienced lay-off's, down-sizing, and perhaps for the first time are entering network marketing or other entrepreneurial and work from home opportunities.
That was true in our case! Many have never had a selling career such as in network marketing; and many perhaps have never worked from home.
Others may be thrust into entrepreneurship because of divorce or loss of spouse to death and therefore need to increase income.
Some have made poor life decisions, and are struggling to make up for lost time.
Absolutely none of us are exempt from any of these scenarios at some point in life.
As an entrepreneurial leader do everything you can to encourage, develop, and draw out the very best in those looking to you as their mentor.
Know that some will be able to produce 110%, some 80%, some 30% or less.
Consider that many may be struggling to overcome odds greater than anything we can imagine; and therefore may stagger along and not be able to produce in the beginning.
As an example of extraordinary leadership take Ray Kroc.
Mr.
Kroc, was called in to help two brothers who started a fast food restaurant chain.
Mr.
Kroc displayed the mark of a true leader.
Though in his mid-50's when called to this position, he worked long, hard hours, just as he had when he first started in business in his 30's.
He cut expenses at home, including his country club membership, which he declared cost him 8 points in his golf game.
During his first 8 years in this business, he took no salary.
He borrowed against his life insurance to cover salaries of key leaders on his team.
His exemplary servant leadership paid off.
In 1961 he bought out the two brothers who had hired him and the iconic MacDonald's is now opening restaurants around the globe.
Today, network marketing companies and entrepreneurial "work at home" opportunities are a dime a dozen; and the claims for making instant money are dizzying.
The leadership torch is being passed as many are leaving the corporate arena and stepping on the shores of "entrepreneurism", in search of a better life.
Today, at home and around the world true leaders are needed who will pay the price, bear others' burdens, sacrifice for and support those they lead, and ensure their long term success-regardless of race or creed, and in spite of their newness to the field.
Only as true leadersstep up to the plate will we survive as a nation who seeks the best for all individuals- recognizing their true value and dignity.
What can you as one "entrepreneurial" person do to make difference in the world? Absolutely Anything.
The world's history is simply a collection of deeds of a small number of ordinary people with amazing commitment to making a difference; who have the law of a "true leader" embedded in their innermost being.
Perhaps you have been born for such a time as this! "These things also belong to the wise: It is not good to show partiality in judgment.
"Proverbs 24:23 (NKJ) "Do you see a man who excels in his work? He will stand before kings; He will not stand before unknown men.
