Unclip the processor cooling fan assembly from the top side of your motherboard and disconnect its power cable from the motherboard's connector. Lift the fan off and put it somewhere safe. - 2). Lift the processor's socket lever and remove the processor from its socket. The processor lever sits just below the socket.
- 3). Take your new processor out of the packaging and place it into the socket, aligning the golden arrow under it near the contacts with the arrow on the socket.
- 4). Lower the socket lever to lock the processor in place.
- 5). Take your syringe of thermal paste and place a drop of it on your processor's surface.
- 6). Spread the thermal paste until it completely covers the surface of your processor.
- 7). Wipe your cooling fan assembly's metal plate from the bottom with a dry cloth until the metal shines slightly and situate the fan on top of the processor. Clip the fan in place and connect its power cable to the same place you disconnected it from. Your processor now has the ability to function.
