- 1). Pick out the outfit. A traditional vampire woman would usually wear a long flowing dress. A black satin gown or deep red velvet would be appropriate. Emphasize the Gothic look by layering black lace over top. Go with a more contemporary look by wearing modern clothes in dark moody colors. High leather boots, a long black leather trench coat and a sexy mini dress will give you an edgy rebel look.
- 2). Do your hair. Of course, vampires can have any color hair. Many traditional vampire Halloween costumes come with a long wig of straight black hair. The long black hair adds to the dark Gothic look. A white or gray streak in the hair will help make it look more sinister. If you don't feel like wearing a wig and your hair isn't jet black, you can still make it look supernatural. Amp up the volume of your hair by crimping it or add some contrast by clipping in black extensions.
- 3). Apply your makeup. The makeup is what will really make you stand out as a vampire. Because vampires are not actually alive, they certainly don't have that rosy glow to their skin that humans have. Getting that trademark pale look requires some heavy makeup. Use a liquid or cream foundation several shades lighter than your skin tone. Use a sponge applicator to blend the makeup into your face and neck. Or use powder. Blend a pale powder into your face and neck with a brush.
- 4). Apply bluish gray eye shadow underneath your eyes in semi-circles. Blend it into the hollows under your cheekbones. The bluish shadows will help you achieve that undead look. Apply a dark smoky eye shadow on your eyelids. Add smudgy eyeliner and mascara. The dark eyes will make the look more sinister.
- 5). Pick out a lipstick color. One option is to apply a very cool purple lipstick that makes your lips look blue and drained of blood. You could also choose to go with a deep red lipstick. The red will draw attention to your teeth and is suggestive of blood. You can also use red lipstick or lip liner to draw fake drops of blood dripping from your mouth. You will look like you just finished off your latest victim.
- 6). Add the finishing touch. The most important part of your costume is your fangs. Buy a set of vampire fangs from a party or costume store and fit them over your teeth. Make sure you flash your scary smile to anyone who passes by.
