What To Look For In A Wet Vac

103 2
There lots of choices if you are considering buying a wet vac, they come in all shapes and sizes, and made from stainless steel to polypropylene.
Domestic Wet Dry Vacs I you are in the market for a domestic wet dry vac, there are a number of things you should take into consideration.
Some wet dry vacs on the market today can also double as blowers.
This eliminates space and expense - better to buy a unit that performs both functions well, so you can also save money by not having to buy a separate blower.
The length of the cord and hoses should also be taken into consideration.
The longer the cord the less likely you will have to go searching for an extension cord.
With a good length of hose, you may be able to plug it in and use it up 30 feet away from your power source too.
Hose Quality The cheaper wet vacs have a rigid hose that can get squashed and kinks easily.
Consider buying a wet dry vacuum with a good quality flexible hose.
These can be comfortably rolled up and go over your shoulder if you want to get up and clean gutters.
Tools Look at the tools that come with the wet vac.
Some don't have any tools at all and must be bought separately - an added expense.
Think of the jobs you want to use your wet vac for and make sure those tools are included and are durable.
Do the tools fit snugly onto the hose? If they don't, then you will lose power through air leaks.
Weight If you do want to clean gutters or blow leaves off the roof, are you going to be able to lift the thing up to where it is needed? Portability Corded or cordless? Again, this depends on what you want to use it for.
Cordless vacs are ideal for cleaning up smaller messes and can go up to 2 gallon capacity.
They are extremely handy.
Wall mounted Want to be able to find and use your wet vac easily? There are two kinds of wall mounted vacs, permanent and portable.
A wall mounted wet dry vac will save space in your garage and you will always know where it is.
Capacity Do you have to deal with major spills at home? Most people don't, so a 2-5 gallon capacity wet vac will suit most purposes.
Mobility Is it stable? My old wet vac/blower had the engine mounted on top and it fell over all the time.
Make sure the wet vac is maneuverable easily and that the hose stays in when it is pulled.
It's not always you get what you pay for with wet dry vacuums.
Make your choice carefully and you can have a useful tool that lasts a lifetime.
