What is Acne : Types, Symptoms and Treatment of Acne
Acne is a disorder of the skin's oil glands (sebaceous glands) that results in plugged pores and outbreaks of lesions commonly called pimples or zits. Acne lesions usually occur on the face, neck, back, chest, and shoulders.
Types of Acne –
Acne Conglobata - This is a relatively rare type of acne vulgaris but it is extremely disfiguring and can cause severe psychological as well as physical suffering. Large lesions form on the face, chest, back, buttocks, upper arms, and thighs and can be accompanied by numerous blackheads. It causes damage to the skin and permanent scarring. It is more common in males than females, and the condition can persist for several years.
Pomade Acne - Blackheads are not liked by anybody. They are a blot on the beauty and bring huge piece of embarrassment to the bearer. What is worse is that they may be the beginning phase of pomade or comedonal acne.
Acne Excoriee:
This condition is usually found in young girls, beginning in adolescence. The girl may find a pimple and start scratching at it viciously. The skin is damaged by the fingernails and is not able to heal due to persistent scratching, which leaves a broad, shallow scar. This should not be confused with an unconscious nervous habit.
Symptoms

• Blackheads
• Cysts
• Redness around the skin eruptions
• Inflammation around the skin eruptions

Treatment of Acne
Topical treatments
There are several topical treatments you may be prescribed including those listed below:
•Topical retinoids (eg Adapalene) are medicines based on vitamin A, which are rubbed into the skin once or twice a day. They work by encouraging the outer layer of skin to flake off
•A topical antibiotic lotion applied to the skin can be used to control the P. acnes bacteria (eg Dalacin T). Treatment needs to continue for at least six months. Preparations that combine an antibiotic with other acne medication are available (eg Benzamycin which combines an antibiotic with benzoyl peroxide)
PhytoMe Acne Gel
The non-drying formula soothes the skin without causing further irritation. PhytoMe Acne Gel can handle the most stubborn breakouts and the analgesic properties of the Arnica fight acne related pain. When used regularly, PhytoMe Acne Gel can unclog pores and significantly reduce the instances of breakouts. Effectively deals with pustules, whiteheads and blackheads.
Acne Surgery:
This procedure greatly speeds acne clearing and appearance by manually removing blackheads and whiteheads. A round loop extractor is used to apply uniform smooth pressure to dislodge the material. Lesions that offer resistance are loosened by inserting a pointed instrument to carefully expose the contents.
