How to Make a Music Staff on Microsoft Word
- 1). Open Microsoft Word. Click the "Insert" menu. Click the "Shapes" button below the menu. Click the first option under the "Lines" section. The cursor changes to a plus sign.
- 2). Click the Word page, hold down the "Shift" key and draw a line from the left side of the page to the right side. Release the "Shift" key.
- 3). Click once on the line to highlight it. Press the "Ctrl" and "C" keys to copy it. Press the "Ctrl" and "V" keys to paste in a copy.
- 4). Drag the second line 1 millimeter below the first, using the vertical toolbar running down the left side of the Word workspace.
- 5). Press the "Ctrl" and "V" keys again, pasting in a third line. Move that line 1 millimeter below the second line.
- 6). Repeat to paste two more lines for a total of five.
- 7). Fill the page with staffs by drawing an outline around all five lines. Press the "Ctrl" and "C" keys. Press the "Ctrl" and "V" keys to paste in the lines, then drag them down below the first. Press "Ctrl" and "V" again to paste in more staffs to fill the page. This step is optional.
- 8). Click the "Clip Art" button on the "Insert" tab's ribbon. Type a term such as "clef" or "music notes" into the "Search For" box. Click "Go," scroll through the results, double-click an image and drag it onto the left side of the staff. This step is optional.
