The Share of Love
I pick up the keys from the key holder, there is a smile on my face. As I walked towards the room, I felt the butterflies in my stomach, I would be seeing you after a long time. My heart, pacing, as I turned the key to unlock the door.
I opened the door, I looked down, I see your shoes. I look up and turn towards the bed, I see you there. My heart skips a beat. Your here, finally here, next to me. I walk towards the bed and lie beside you. I run my fingers down your face. The feeling of having you home is the best feeling ever. You smile and my heart melts rapidly. That smile kept me hanging on, living life without you. You gently kiss my hand. I ask my self - "Is this for real?". I don't know how you manage to do it every time, you make me feel alive.
You hold my hand in your tender, warm, hands. You have absolutely no idea how much I have missed you. I look into your eyes. I drown in them wondering how things can be perfect, all you need is the special some one to fill the spaces between your fingers.
I rest my head on your chest, take a deep breath. I can smell the perfume which you always wear. You kiss me on my forehead. How I wish I could stay like this forever. You whisper gently in my ears - "Forever Thine, Forever Mine, Forever Ours...." and rest your hand on my stomach. I feel a smile appearing on my trembling lips, a tear rolling down my cheek. I blink. Your not here..........
Praying its a bad dream, I close my eyes. I hear the firing, I hear the grenades blasting, I hear the commands being screamed out, I hear your voice. You're wearing your uniform, you're holding your gun.Â
You promised the country your life. You promised me your love.
People say that Captains of the Army lead a miserable life. I fear, for they are wrong.Â
The Captain dies for his country because he loves it, the country awaits it's freedom. Their wives wait for them, but all they get, in the end, is their belongings, their fame, their uniform. Everything, but them. And the wives die waiting for them, because they love them.
They should realize, we don't only share their surname, we share more than that, much more. We share their DNA, their successors.
I open my eyes, pick up your picture and rub it over my protruding belly. I want the other part of you to know how deceitful you have been, how much you have made me wait, how much you have made me cry. How you left me all alone. But I also want the human inside me to inherit all your qualities, good or bad, I don't care. I just want you, by my side, living with me. All over again.
